Ofili, who now runs for the University of Michigan, is a two-time NCAA hurdle champion. She ran a 12.84 in the quarterfinals to qualify for the semifinals. In that race she finished fifth with a time of 12.76 just missing out making the finals (12.75) was the fourth place spot.
Tom Micallef, her former Ypsilanti High Track Coach, said he was very impressed with how she performed.
"It was an awesome effort," Micallef said. "She held her own against the best in the United States. Given her age I think she wasn't quite ready for the pros. Also coming off a strong effort in the NCAA's, sometimes it is too difficult to repeat a great feat."
He says look for her to be strong in London in 2012 if she decided to compete.
"I am very proud of her and Coach Chris," he said. "We were getting up to the minute updates of her progress. We were hoping for the final but she came up .001 seconds short. It takes around .2 second to blink your eye. You can't get much closer than that."
Landria Buckley who runs for Howard University and was from Romulus High School didn't advance out of her qualifying heat.
Former Ann Arbor Pioneer track star Candice Davis ran a 12.76 in her heat despite hitting five hurdles and qualified for the finals. In the finals she finished fifth with a 12.66 and did not make the Olympic team.
