New show to open at Riverside Arts Center
PUBLISHED: June 19, 2008
"Rhythms of Life," a new show featuring ceramics by Yiu-Keung Lee and textiles by Lois Bryant, Sally Houck, and Marilyn M. Prucka, opens July 3 at the Riverside Arts Center Gallery in Ypsilanti.Bryant's recent series of weavings, "The Ground Beneath My Feet," takes its imagery from asphalt, cracked cement, footprints, and tire tracks, surfaces usually overlooked or written off as ugly. Prucka finds inspiration in the River Raisin near her Monroe home. Her quilt series "Gatherings" is based on photographs she took of a puddle filled with windblown pine needles and reflected sky.
