Fifteen days ago, fumes exhausted out of Ryan Minarik like an overheated car as he watched his team commit countless errors in a loss to Woodhaven.

Six days ago, the pressure valve was turned off as the Ypsilanti varsity softball season came to a close in the opening round of MHSAA districts. Ann Arbor Huron knocked off Ypsilanti beating them 16-0 in four innings.
Caryn Harris recorded the lone Ypsilanti hit on the day.
"I think we had high expectations," said Minarik two days after the season ended. "It was an up and down kind of thing. It was weird. Up and down, is the best way to put it."
Ineligibility problems plagued the team early in the season. Then it was team chemistry. Then discipline issue arose in the final week of the season.
But down the stretch, Minarik was pleased with how the team finished the season.
"Caryn Harris really came on strong at the end," Minarik said. "Really came on strong. Dominique Brigham had a good year, too."
Anna Inoue achieved the most wins on the mound for Ypsilanti since 2001 with a 6-9 final record.
"Her pitching came along," Minarik said. "She didn't think so, but she did well pitching wise. She's a great defender. Great glove, great arm."
Harris, Brigham and Inoue will be looked upon as leaders next season. Minarik is losing just two seniors on a team, which finished 6-19, and was asked if he is looking forward to the 2008 campaign.
"As of now I will be," he said. "We'll see what happens."
