On a hot day, and in a hurry to make a scheduled league meet on time, Torin Moore wasn't waiting for anybody, not even his own shot putters.

Neither was the bus driver.
So the Ypsilanti track team took off from the high school, despite missing a few guys, and still managed to finish first ahead of six teams at the league meet with 160 points. Trenton finished in second with 135 points.
Moore said Al Backe and E.J.Wilson ran exceptionally well.
Especially Backe, he ran in the 3,200-M relay along with Cameron Simmons, Kyle Woodyard, and Previlus Papoloute, which placed third.
Backe then placed second in the 1600-M race with a personal best of four minutes and thirty-eight seconds (he missed first place by just two-tenths of a second.) Then he placed fourth in the 800-M with a finishing time of 2:06.
He was back at it again for the 3200-M and he was fifth with a time of 10:54.
As for Wilson, he took first place in both the 110-M hurdles (15.4 seconds) and 300-M hurdles (41.10). He was also a leg in two first-place relay teams the 400-M (44.5 seconds) and 800-M (1:31.5) consisting of Martez Dykes, Marvon Sanders and Taylor Moore.
Those two relay teams along with Backe (400-M) and Sanders (long jump)-will compete at the state tournament on June 2 in Grand Rapids.
Torin Moore said he is just looking to have fun on the way up there. Winning would be a surprise.
"We have no pressure," he said. "The worst thing that can happen is we win."
