Ypsi Harriers shine at invitational meet

The Braves shined individually and Torin Moore witnessed a few of his athletes achieve "PR's" at the Golden Triangle Invitational this past week.

Moore was excited about the results as well as the future of the season.
"It is all about placing my aces in their places," Moore said. "You have to put your best workers in the best spots."
With Marvon Sanders, Martez Dykes, Al Backey and Taylor Moore competing at a football combine at the Pontiac Silverdome, it was time for three Ypsilanti runners to take the spotlight.
In the 110-meter hurdles, Jeremiah Turman (40.5 seconds), E.J. Wilson (41.9) and Re'nique Lewis (42.7) all achieved personal best's on the day.
Kevin Atkins took fourth place in the long jump with a leap of six-feet.
Kwame Searcy took fourth place in the 400-meters and earned a personal best with a time slightly above 53 seconds.
The 400-meter relay team consisting of Dionte Sims, Tyrone Rogers, Lamartine Kelly and Montez Brooks took second place with a time of 47.7 seconds.
Daryl Lewis took fourth place in the 100-meters with a time of 11.6 seconds, and qualified for the regionals in the process, which will be held at Linden on May 19.
Lewis isn't the only Ypsilanti track runner who will compete at the regional Moore has a laundry list of runners.
Taylor Moore, Dykes and Chris Harris can all run 11.6 seconds, or faster, in the 100-meters, and have qualified. Torin Moore expects Wilson and Turman to qualify, as well.
Lewis, Turman, and Wilson have qualified in the 110-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles.
Sanders, Dykes, Taylor Moore, Turman and Wilson have qualified in the 200-meter dash. Kwame Searcy, Jaquan Patterson, Donald Spencer and Marvon Sanders have qualified in the 400-meter dash.
