The preliminary numbers were close Tuesday evening for the Willow Run School Board race, in which four candidates were vying for two four-year terms.

Incumbant treasurer Dorothy Stewart, 63, won a seat back on the board with 423 votes. Incumbant Brenda Clay was not elected for another four-year term. She received 267 votes. Clay will be replaced by Mark Wilde who won the position with 350 votes. The 49-year-old Internet technician said one of his number one prorities would be to see enrollment increase in the district.

"Willow Run has demonstrated over the years that we have what it takes vision-wise to implement some very forward thinking strategies that really do benefit the student. And then, unfortunately we under-support them after they get started," Wilde said.

Stewart said a fiscally sound district is one of her priorities.

"We are close to resolving our financial problems but we need to continue to focus on this problem until it is fully resolved and we once again have a reserve fund," Stewart said, "I want to see Willow Run back on solid financial ground."

Write—in candidate Joi Jenson received 199 votes. She thanked the community and Willow Run teachers Tuesday.
