Language for recalling trustees David Bates and Linda Snedacar-Horne of the Ypsilanti Public Schools' Board of Education was rejected by the Washtenaw County Clarity Committee. Amy Doyle and Cameron Getto, who were originally included in the recall effort, have since resigned from the board.

Katherine Weathers, who filed the petitions, said she would review, rewrite and resubmit the petitions.
"I follow through on what I do," Weathers said. "I have to do what I think is best for students."
Weathers, who is a parent in the district, said she would continue her recall efforts because of Bates' and Horne's votes to give the vice president power to put items on the board agenda and the re-voting on issues such as the removal of the Braves mascot name for school teams and transportation privatization.
"My question has been, 'Why are we doing this again to the community?'" Weathers said. "What are their motives for bringing these up again?"
According to personnel at the office of the Washtenaw County Elections Clerk, if Weathers does present language that passes the Clarity Committee, she will still have to collect 3,029 signatures of valid Ypsilanti Public School District voters. Weathers said she plans on collecting 3,500 signatures, in order to have some room for error.
Washtenaw County Treasurer Catherine McClary, County Clerk Lawrence Kestenbaum and Probate Judge Darlene O'Brien sit on the Clarity Committee. The committee ascertains whether the language used is clear and easily understood.
