Tomorrow's concert will mark the 25th anniversary of the YCC, which was organized by Denise Rae Zellner in 1983. Zellner remained conductor until 2006 when she, sadly, lost her battle with cancer.
Since then, the choir has been fortunate to have the conducting talents of Ariel Toews. Accompanist is Phyllis Bogarin.
As always, this spring's program promises to be a varied onewith something to please every musical taste. Many compositions that the YCC has sung over the years will also be revisited.
The Friday evening concert will be immediately followed by a special celebratory reception in the social hall.
On Sunday, Haab's Restaurant, 18 West Michigan Ave., will host a fund-raiser for the choir. Haab's will donate 10 percent of all sales on that date to the Ypsilanti Community Choir.
The YCC is open (without audition) to all adult singers, and new members are always welcome.
The choir will resume its Thursday evening rehearsals, always 7:30 p.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, in August in preparation for the Ypsilanti Heritage Festival in August.
