Young Flyers in rebuilding stages
By Dave Merchant , Staff Writer
PUBLISHED: April 24, 2008
The Willow Run track teams are very young this season and they do not have a lot of depth. Last week the boys fell to Melvindale 72-49.

Keith Marks took first in the 800-meter run. Ed Calhoun was first in the 3,200-meter run and Mikael Thomas was first in the 300-meter hurdles.
Joe Chaney was second in the 110-meter hurdles and second in the 300-meter hurdles as well.
The girls' track team only had four girls to race against Melvindale last week and they lost 84-34.
Sophomore Zevin Carter won the 100 and 400-meter races. Freshman Chelsea Chapman was first in the 800 and 1,600-meter runs.
Willow Run girls' track Coach Karen Cook said they are trying to get more girls out on the team.
"We are really trying to rebuild the program," Cook said. "The middle school has gone undefeated in the past four seasons."
The other girls on the team are sophomore sprinter Daneisha Weston and freshman sprinter Tyesha McBride.
The Flyers both battled Highland Park two days ago.
