South Summit Street
Ypsilanti police were called to the 10 block of South Summit Street last Thursday at 11:30 p.m. in response to a report of an assault.
The 65-year-old male victim was found to be bleeding severely from triangle-shaped lacerations to his head. He told officers he had been approaching his car when two unknown men wearing ski masks jumped out at him.
The victim said the suspects began punching him and then hitting him in the head with a metal club or pipe. They then went through the victim's pockets before fleeing the area on foot.
Personal items were found strewn in the area where the victim had fallen. The victim could not recall if he had any money on him prior to the attack.
A K-9 track was initiated, but no suspects were located. The suspects are described as being about 6-feet in height with slim builds, wearing all black clothing.
The victim was transported to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for treatment.
On April 11 at 3:10 a.m., Ypsilanti police were called to the intersection of Adams Street and Washtenaw Avenue in response to a call of a victim running from suspects who had assaulted him with a gun.
Upon arrival, the officers located the victim, who was no longer being chased. He had suffered a cut to the lip with swelling.
The victim stated he had been leaving a local bar when he was approached by four teenagers who requested a light for a cigar. The victim provided his lighter and was then offered drugs.
The victim replied that he did not want drugs and began to walk away when one suspect walked up and struck him in the mouth with a chrome-plated handgun. The suspect then demanded all his money and raised the gun to strike again.
The victim said he was able to block the second blow and flee the scene. He called the police while running.
An initial search of the area for the suspects was unsuccessful, but a short time later the victim observed the suspects walking in the area of College Place and Emmet Street. Officers detained three suspects. An investigation is continuing.
Washtenaw Avenue
On April 12 at 6:25 p.m., officers responded to a call of an armed robbery that had just occurred at a gas station in the 1400 block of Washtenaw Avenue.
The employee there said an unknown man, wearing a ski mask, entered the location brandishing a handgun. The suspect pointed the gun at the employee and demanded money. The employee turned over all the money in the cash register, whereupon the suspect fled on foot.
The officers attempted a K-9 track of the area, but were unsuccessful in locating the suspect.
The suspect is described as a man approximately six feet in height with a heavy guild, wearing a dark gray sweatshirt with hood and dark gray sweat pants, as well as the ski mask.
Investigation is ongoing.

The suspect proceeded to empty the cash register before fleeing back through the drive-thru window.
Officers attempted a K-9 track and search of the area, but were unable to locate the suspect. The suspect is described as a dark-complexioned man, approximately 5-feet, 7-inches and 170 pounds. He was wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans and a nylon mesh type mask over his face.
