Longtime Railsplitters girls' varsity track coach Csaba Kovacs said this year's bunch will be a blue-collar team. One in which everyone has to pitch in.

So far, Lincoln has faired well in two indoor meets at Eastern Michigan and Sienna Heights.
"We did pretty well with all of the young kids we had," Kovacs said.
"We've got a rally nice freshman class. So, I expect good things to happen."
Senior shot-putter Kayla Dillon finished in second place at both events. Senior Desiree Holman performed well in the long jumps and relays, particularly the 4 by 2 and 4 by 4.
Sophomore Noriah Williams did a nice job in the 100 and 200-meter sprint relays. Freshman Megan Marchildon ran the 400 for the first time in her life and had the fastest split of all the girls.
"We're not lacking talent," Kovacs said. "Dual meet wise, it could be a little rough because we don't have any distance runners. We'll be OK in the invitationals. We expect they'll get better.
"We have an outside chance to get into the state meet. They're enthused, work hard, and that's all you can ask for."
Lincoln boys' track also competed at Eastern Michigan relays March 30.
Railsplitters senior Neel Patel took third in 3200-meters with 10 minutes and 38.1 seconds while Senior Deion Casey was fourth in shot put throwing 46.1 feet. Junior Brandon Maynard placed fifth in pole vault with a jump of 10 feet.
There are 50 student athletes on the team this season, and 37 of them are freshman and sophomores.
"We're very, very young," Railsplitters boys track coach Derek Gonzales said. "We'll be better toward the end of the season."
As for Casey, the time is now, and he'll be the main person at big meets.
"Deion Casey is one of the top returning people in the state in the discus," Gonzales said. "He has a good shot to win that in Division 1."
Lincoln schools are on spring break and mens' and womens' track will resume its regular schedule with an April 17 meet against Chelsea.
