For the third consecutive game, Ypsilanti varsity baseball lost by one run.

This time, it was at Trenton, 6-5 in nine innings April 2.
Ypsilanti gave up an unearned run in the seventh inning, which tied the game. It happened again in the ninth, sealing Ypsilanti's fate, and dropping Terry Bigham's team to 0-4.
"We really gave the game away," Bigham said. "We're struggling to finish off games, but we'll get there."
First-year starter Elijah Jentzen gave Ypsilanti a solid performance on the mound, giving up three earned runs on seven hits in five innings of work.
But it was errors - which have accumulated to a total of 16 in four games - along with an inability to knock in runners in scoring position that led to the late-inning defeat.
Cory Reynolds was four for five one the day and Clyde Gentry was three for four with two RBIs. Although there were 14 combined Ypsilanti hits on the day, there were too many strikeouts with runners on base, leaving 14 men stranded throughout the game.
"We're a little inexperienced, so the kids are kind of learning on the fly," Bigham said. "We have some time to work some of those kinks out."
Catching fly balls in the outfield has been an issue, too. Bigham is still shuffling players around while trying to find permanent positions.
Regarding the three straight one-run losses, Bigham was asked if he and his team would translate those into victories down the road.
"Yeah, I think we will," he said. "Each game we've gotten a little bit better."
Ypsilanti schools are on spring break and varsity baseball will resume its regular schedule April 16 with a home doubleheader against Lincoln.
