The season didn't start out quite the way Lincoln softball Coach Karen Sexsmith would have liked losing the first four games but her team is still young.

"The girls I have are very gung-ho," Sexsmith commented. "They are excited and they want to do better."
On Friday, the Lady Rails dropped two games to Pinckney. In the first game the locals fell 10-0 in six innings.
Alexa Anderson took the loss on the hill giving up 10 runs on 11 hits. She struck out four and gave away two free passes. Jackie Vallance had the lone Splitter hit.
In the second game Pinckney took out Lincoln 15-0 in four innings. Malak Ismail pitched three innings and gave up 10 runs on nine hits. Sarah Burnett and Vallance each had one hit.
On Saturday in the second game of a double header against the Wayne Memorial Zebras, the locals were up 11-3 in the fifth inning before going on to lose 12-11 in the bottom of the seventh inning.
"We had three errors in the fifth innings," she said. "It kind of took us out of the game."
Ismail gave up six earned runs in the loss. Madison VanHaren was 3-for-4 hitting. Vallance and Danny Lauth were both 2-for-5 in the second game.
Sexsmith said the girls were disappointed in the loss.
In the first game the Splitters fell 11-6 on Saturday. Anderson was the losing pitcher giving up seven hits and 11 runs. Valance went 3-for-3 with three RBI and four other players had one hit each.
Lincoln falls to 0-4 on the early season and tomorrow will host a double header with Willow Run. Yesterday they played two with Highland Park and on Monday Dundee came in for two as well.
