Ypsilanti police, under the coordinating efforts of the detective bureau, conducted a Liquor Control commission sting of several local businesses on April 1.

At 8:33 that evening, an underage person working with the police bought a 40-ounce bottle of beer from Cal's Party Store and Deli, 915 W. Michigan Ave. In addition, police found no liquor license displayed in the store, contrary to state regulations.
Police also found a .32-caliber revolver behind the counter. The clerk professed no knowledge of the gun, which was found to be unregistered. An investigation is continuing.
Ypsilanti police officers Brent Yuchasz and Andrew Vainner conducted a traffic stop at 4:30 a.m. on April 2 in the 300 block of First Avenue and discovered the driver was wanted on numerous warrants.
The driver attempted to hide a plastic bag along the seat as officers approached. The bag was found to contain 16 rocks of crack cocaine. He was arrested and lodged in the Washtenaw County Jail.
Ypsilanti police Officer Robert Murphy was on traffic detail at the intersection of Ballard and Emmet streets at 4:54 p.m. April 4 when he observed a white vehicle fail to stop at the stop sign for the intersection.
Upon pulling the vehicle over, Murphy approached and detected the strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. He asked the female driver if she had anything in the vehicle that she should not have and she responded in the negative.
The driver consented to a search of the vehicle and Murphy found a white purse in the passenger area. The purse contained two sandwich bags of marijuana, a prescription drug vial that contained marijuana and several marijuana pipes. The driver was arrested.
Ypsilanti police were called to the 400 block Of Jefferson Street at 1:30 a.m. April 5 on a report of domestic assault and a woman with a knife.
Upon arrival at the address, they observed a man and a woman in the driveway of the residence. The man was bleeding from a stab wound to the face and was being chased by the woman, who was brandishing a pair of scissors.
A nearby witness was interviewed and the woman was arrested on a charge of domestic assault.
