Ypsilanti High lacrosse is in its fourth season of play and the first year under Coach Bill Kahn. With the bad weather from winter almost over, the Phoenix have had to cancel games with Ann Arbor Greenhills and Belleville.

An important senior on the team is defenseman Aaron Wells. The two junior captains are Steven Hitchcock (defense) and junior attacker Zach Myers.
Other key juniors on the team include Tim Nestorek, attacker Zach Hutchison, Sheridan Redgate and midfielder Hamza Abuswy.
"Our first game was a tough opener for us," Kahn said. "We lost 12-3 to Ann Arbor Greenhills and it was the first time we were really able to get outside to practice on the a field."
Ypsilanti High scored first but trailed 2-1 after the first and was down 6-1 after the second.
"They had a big push in the third," he said.
Redgate, Abuswy and Myers scored goals for the locals.
Lacrosse is only played by a few schools in the Mega so most of the games for Ypsilanti are played outside the league. They do play in the Michigan High School Athletic Association's postseason tournament.
Romulus and Belleville are the other local Mega schools that have varsity programs or club teams this season.
Ypsilanti was scheduled to play against Plymouth High last Monday.
