Once is nice but two in a row is even better. Just ask the Ypsilanti Phoenix girls' track team and they will tell you it was a thrill to win the Huron River Relays at Eastern Michigan University last Friday.

The Lady Phoenix won the event with 91 points edging out Chelsea with 85 points and Algonac with 61 points.
Coach Torin Moore was impressed with how the girls ran and the shape they are in for the season already.
"I thought the girls ran really well," Moore said. "It is nice to see them in this kind of shape this early. This is the second time in as many years they have won this event."
The girls took first place in four relay events and they also won two individual events.
Kyra Caldwell won the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 9.55. Telecia Fracois won the long jump with a leap of sixteen feet and eight and a quarter inches.
The girls won the 3,200- meter relay (10:40.8). Francois, Maria Williams, Katie Mattie and Sha'meka Hamilton ran it. They won the Sprint Medley (4:30.63) and Caldwell, Shavonne Roberson, Delisia Morris and Hamilton ran it.
Ypsilanti won the 4x400 meter relay (4:13.11) and Francois, Williams, Hamilton and Caldwell ran it and they won the Shuttle Hurdles (37.99) run by Caldwell, Hamilton, Morris and Williams.
Kenniea Jackson took third in the 60-meter dash. Anna Kluitenberg was fourth in the 1,600-meter run (6:02.55). Ypsi was third in the 4x200-meter relay and in the distance medley as well and Berghe' House was fifth in the high jump. Carmisha Bell was fifth in the shot for the Phoenix.
"I was really proud that the girls were able to repeat," he said. "I told them to do the best they could and their work ethic seems to be very high this season."
The start of the regular dual meet season has been moved to April 15 at home against Dearborn Edsel Ford for the girls.
Ypsi boys take third
The Phoenix took third at the Eastern Michigan's Huron Relays on Friday with 56 points. East Lansing won the event with 101 points and Lansing Sexton was second with 72 points.
The boys won the Sprint Medley and Marvon Sanders, Martez Dykes, EJ Wilson and Al Backey ran it.
The Ypsilanti boys took second in the 4x800 meter relay (8:52.92), fourth in the Distance Medley (11:53.84) and fourth in the 4x400 meter relay (3:43.81).
The Phoenix took fifth in the 4x200 meter relay (1:38.15) and fifth in the Shuttle Hurdle (33.53).
Kevin Atkins was sixth in the high jump and Sanders was fifth in the long jump.
Dykes was eighth in the 60-meter dash. Jeremiah Truman was seventh in the 60-meter hurdles. Mohamed Cherif was 14th in the shot.
"The boys had some great competition to run against them from Lansing," Moore said. "East Lansing and Sexton are both very fast schools. I felt the boys could have run better but overall I was happy the way both teams ran."
Ypsilanti boys will start on April 17 against the Woodhaven Warriors.
