Man sought in arson case

The Ypsilanti Post of the Michigan State Police is on the lookout for a suspect in a suspected arson in Augusta Township on Friday.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:15 a.m. in the Augusta Woods mobile home complex. A modular home caught fire approximately 10 minutes after witnesses observed a man leave the residence. According to the homeowner, who had left the previous day, no one should have been in the home.
Witnesses told the police that the man walked from the residence carrying a large plastic bag and some tools. The suspect is a male in his late 40s to early 50s. He is approximately five-feet nine inches tall with a long grayish/white beard. The suspect was last seen wearing a dark gray or blue hat with a gray coat and dark blue sweats.
He was last seen traveling east behind the residence and towards Rawsonville Road. It is unknown if the suspect got into an awaiting vehicle, or continued to walk long Rawsonville Road.
The fire is being investigated by the Michigan State Police. Anyone with information should call the MSP in Ypsilanti at 482-1211.
