Terry Bingham now is ready to be a head coach.

After five seasons at Milan, where he was varsity assistant for two years preceding three years as head coach of the junior varsity, Bingham will now don the purple and gold at Ypsilanti.
With eight seniors, Bingham said that he has a good nucleus. The strength of the team will be the infield but he has question marks in the outfield and starting rotation.
"We're really young on the mound," Bingham said. "Some of the young kids are going to have to step it up. (We have) one kid who has varsity experience, as for the pitching."
That would be senior Cory Reynolds, who will be the ace of the staff. Sophomore Justin Brewer, junior Clyde Gentry and senior Joel Frye will round out the crop of potential starters.
"We'll be very young, very inexperienced," Bingham said. "It's a matter of finding some kids who can hold us in games."
Two guys who will be looked at to generate major offense are seniors Eric Noland and Jacob Rhodes.
Noland, a shortstop, and Rhodes, a catcher, recently signed with Eastern Michigan University to play baseball.
They'll team up with second baseman Justin Krakowski, who transferred from Willow Run, to create a team that Bingham said will be "pretty strong up the middle."
The lineup will be strong, too, Bingham said.
The two future Eagles and Reynolds, who Bingham said hits for average, will make up the heart of the lineup in the three, four and five spots, respectively, in the order.
"Eric hits the ball everywhere, doesn't strike out very often," Bingham said. "Jacob is a left-handed hitter with a lot of power. They're all-state caliber players."
The season opens Thursday versus Allen Park.
Ypsilanti won the league last season, so will the new head coach lead his team to a district title?
"It would obviously be great," Bingham said. "I think we should be pretty solid."
