The former Eastern Michigan student was arrested and charged Feb. 23, 2007 with crimes related to the death of fellow student Laura Dickinson.

Dickinson, a 22-year-old junior from Hastings, was discovered dead in her dorm room on the fifth floor of Hill Hall Dec. 15, 2006.Test results from the Michigan state crime lab confirmed Taylor's DNA matched evidence found in Dickinson's dorm room.

Last October after nearly two weeks of argument from the prosecution and 17 hours of deliberation, the jury members in the Taylor trial could not reach a unanimous decision, resulting in a mistrial. If guilty, Taylor could face life in prison for the open murder charge and the criminal sexual conduct charge.
