With the change of the seasons, this will be the first time in nearly a year and half the boys' golf team will be competing. Ypsilanti Coach Jon Zajac lost three of his golfers to baseball but he feels the team is on good shape for this season.

Ypsilanti High had won the Mega Gold for three years in a row but now they move up to the tougher Mega Blue and must face the likes of Dearborn Heights Crestwood, Melvindale, Truman and Redford Thurston.
On this year's squad he has two transfers from Willow Run that can play and contribute right away. They are seniors Justin Karkowski and Jacob Edwards. Other returning seniors are Adam Keeler and Matt Roberts.
Freshman Jacob Sewell will be depended on for the season as well.
"The rest of the players are all freshmen," Zajac said. "Some of them have never picked up a golf club so we will have to see how we mold them."
Action for the Phoenix will start on April 16 at Pine View against Crestwood. The team will also golf at the Tecumseh Invitational as well as the Taylor Invitational.
