Ypsilanti softball Coach Ryan Minarik is looking to get more wins this season and maybe not get blown out on quite so many games. He has been coaching the varsity since 1998.

"We had a mixed record last season we went 6-18," Minarik said. "We got blown out quite a bit and we lost in districts to Ann Arbor Huron."
The team plays in the Mega White and Minarik said the tough teams in the league this season should be Taylor Truman and Lincoln Park.
Seniors on the squad are Domique Brigham who plays centerfield and is one of the fastest players on the team. She was all-league last season.
Senior Ashley Fulks is a pitcher and first baseman, Jessica Gafford can play outfield and Kava Laster is a hoop player who will fit in on the field.
One of the strongest players on the team is junior catcher Corenne Harris, junior Anna Inoue was 6-10 on the mound last season and will also play third and Sarah Kluitenburt is a utility player and right fielder.
Two key sophomores for the Phoenix are Enya Moran who has a strong arm and will play outfield and Christinia Smith who plays third and second.
Minarek has two very good freshmen he is expecting good things out of. Masako Inoue will play shortstop and she has a very good bad as well. Megan Osborne will play outfield, second or first.
"We have to play with a lot of intensity," he said. "The pitching will be the same this season we have to see how well we play defensively."
The locals will begin play on March 29 at the Taylor Tournament if the ground has dried up enough by then to allow them to play.
Minarik is excited about this season and excited about the young group of players who are coming up and the ones who are playing summer ball as well as high school ball.
