Township looks to fill vacancies

The Charter Township of Ypsilanti is looking for citizens to volunteer to serve on various Boards or Commissions vacancies. The Board of Trustees will make these appointments at its April 15 meeting.

The Board is looking to fill one vacancy on the Civil Service Commission. The Commission must determine examinations for positions, passing grades and all other matters necessary to carry out the provisions of the Civil Service Act. To be considered, the individual must be a United States Citizen, a resident of Ypsilanti Township for one-year and a registered voter in Washtenaw County for at least three-years. The term is for six years.
The Board is looking to fill two vacancies on the Construction Board of Appeals representing mechanical, building, architect, engineering, electrical and plumbing trades. Applicants should be qualified by experience or training to perform the duties of members of the Board of Appeals. Terms are for two years.
The Board is looking to fill four vacancies on the Economic Development Authority. The EDA encourages industrial and commercial development within the Township through their ability to purchase, construct, improve and maintain commercial and industrial projects. Terms are for six years.
The Board is looking to fill one vacancy on the Zoning Board of Appeals. The ZBA hears and decides questions that arise in the administration of the zoning ordinance. Term is for three years.
