"Things are coming along," Jason Neal, owner of the grill said. "We're starting to make some good progress."
Neal said the sign outside the building is up, the walls are being painted, the kitchen equipment is on its way and the liquor license has been approved.
The Ypsilanti City Council last week unanimously approved the transfer of the liquor license from One Man and a Pan CafÈ and Catering, Inc. to J. Neal's Mongolian Grill, located at 200 W. Michigan Ave.
The classification of the license also was changed from a Tavern license (beer and wine) to Class C or a full liquor license.
Neal said although the Mongolian Grill had some delays he is use to setbacks. The Mongolian Grill will be his 14th restaurant. He also owns 12 Buffalo Wild Wings and a burger joint.
Neal said he plans to hire approximately 50 to 60 employees.
"I think it's going to be a good compliment to downtown," Neal said.
