Five advance for Lincoln Rails

The Lincoln Splitters had a good day at the Division 1 district for individual wrestling on Saturday at Saline. It was a very good day indeed as they managed to get five grapplers to advance to the regional round this Saturday at East Kentwood.

"In my remembrance which is about 15 years this is the most I have ever seen us take," Splitter Coach Daren Schaller said. "I was really happy with the way we wrestled."
Jarred Lylyhorn (one-hundred and three pounds) was 2-2 on the day and finished fourth. He is 30-9 on the season Mark Farrell (112) was 4-1 on the day for third place and he is currently 43-12 on the season.
Brandon Farrell (140) was 4-1 on the day for third place and is currently 43-9 on the season. Brandan Freeman (145) was 3-2 on the day for fourth place and is 39-11 on the season. Eddie Rakotz (152) was 3-2 on the day for fourth place and is currently 34-19 overall.
Seth LaBombarbe (119) narrowly missed going to the round to determine third and fourth place. Only the top four wrestlers in each weight advance to the regional meet. The top seed from the other district will wrestle the fourth seed from this district.
On Thursday, the Splitters dropped Ann Arbor Huron in Division 1 team district action 54-24. In the finals Lincoln fell to Saline 40-32.
"Saline is tough," he said. "It wasn't as close as the score looks they had things wrapped up."
Winning twice on the day were Lylyhorn (103), Mark Farrell (112), LaBombarbe (119), Brandon Farrell (140). Freeman (145), Rakotz (152) and Aaron Riser (160).
Lincoln is done for the season with team wrestling and the five individuals will continue this Saturday.
