Flyers run over Monroe

The Willow Run Flyers split the week in hoop action with a big 54-27 win at home against Monroe on Thursday.

The Flyers jumped out to a 17-10 lead and expanded it to 24-16 at the half.
In the third quarter, Willow Run decided to put things away outscoring the Trojans 15-6 in the third quarter and 16-5 in the fourth quarter.
Flyer Coach Scott Hunter said he was pleased with how his team played.
"We played good defense," he said. "It was our second win of the season over them."
Brian Cogdell had 13 points and Mark Cook was next with 12 points.
On Feb. 12, the locals fell 54-43 to Grosse Pointe South.
"They had a big player that we had a hard time with," he said. "He scored six points on us in the first quarter and 16 points in the game."
Willow Run was down 19-10 after the first quarter and 26-19 at the half.
"We cut into the lead but they shot the ball really well," he commented. (Brian) Cogdell had 23 points but no one else was in doubles."
The Flyers are 6-11 overall and 2-8 in the Mega Red. They play at Truman today and in the first round on the Class B district action at Dearborn Divine Child on Monday.
Last week they also played host Ypsilanti High and played at Melvindale Academy of Business and Technology.
