Township looking to fill vacancies

The Ypsilanti Township Board is looking for volunteers from the community to serve on a variety of boards and commissions that have vacancies.

Board of Review
Board members are looking to fill two vacancies for alternates on the board of review.
Terms are for two years, ending in odd-numbered years. The board of review examines and reviews the township's assessment roll for the current year, as prepared by the supervisor.
The board of review can add property omitted from the assessment roll, correct errors in names, descriptions of property and the assessment and valuation of property. The board of review can also hear protests and endorse the completed assessment roll.
Board members will make the appointments 7 p.m. Tuesday at their regular meeting in the boardroom of the Township Civic Center, 7200 S. Huron River Drive, Ypsilanti.
Interested applicants should submit a completed appointment application and resume. Applicants have until Friday to turn in the applications.
Construction Board of Appeals
The township is looking to fill four vacancies on the Township Construction Board of Appeals representing mechanical, building, architect, engineer, electrical and plumbing trades. Applicants should be qualified by experience or training to perform the duties of members of the board of appeals. Two terms are for two years and one term is for the remainder of 2007.
Economic Development Authority (corporation)
The township is looking to fill three vacancies on the Township Economic Development Authority (Corporation). The authority encourages industrial and commercial development within the township through their ability to purchase, construct, improve and maintain commercial and industrial projects. Terms are for six years.
Greens Commission
The board is looking to fill two vacancies on the Township Greens Commission. The commission oversees the administration of the Green Oaks Golf Course. Terms are for two years.
Senior Citizen's Housing Commission
The township is looking to fill three vacancies on the Township Senior Citizens' Housing Commission. Terms are for five years. Members of the commission must be residents of Ypsilanti Township.
Water Conservation Advisory Commission
The Board is looking to fill two vacancies with individuals with relevant scientific expertise related to water quality on the Township Water Conservation Advisory Commission.
The commission reviews and makes recommendations for watershed plans including implementation and advising regarding future research on township water quality and natural habitat issues, while additionally reviewing Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, Washtenaw County Department of Public Health and other data on township lakes, streams and watershed to identify natural features and wetlands for preservation or protection.
The commission also reviews existing water detention and run-off practices, they review the adequacy of shore-line erosion controls on Ford Lake and other water courses and they work in harmony with the park commission regarding environmental issues relating to parks.
Ypsilanti Community Utilities Authority
The board is looking to fill one vacancy on the Ypsilanti Community Utilities Authority Board. The individual should be a resident of Ypsilanti Township. The term is for three years.
