Nobody ever said basketball in the Mega Red was easy and last week was no exception for the Willow Run Flyers who came up with two losses on the week.

On Friday night at home, the locals fell 44-32 to crosstown rivals the Belleville Tigers. Willow Run led 11-9 after the first quarter but was outscored 9-0 in the second quarter.
"We had good looks at the basket," Flyer Coach Scott Hunter commented. "I have never had a team not score in a quarter."
The locals were down 18-11 at the half. Willow Run battled back hard in the third quarter and cut to a 23-21 deficit.
"In the fourth quarter we had some turnovers and Belleville hit a couple of big shots," he said. "Our defensive effort was solid but offensively we had no rhythm."
Belleville had two triples in the game and Willow Run also hit two treys. Brian Cogdell was the high scorer for Willow Run with 13 points.
On Feb. 5 the Flyers fell to Romulus 63-49. Romulus led 13-8 after the first quarter and 29-24 at the half.
"In the third quarter on our first five possessions we turned the ball over every time," he said. "I thought we played well at times against Romulus."
Mark Cook had 21 points and Cogdell was next with 10 points.
Hunter thought his team played well in the first quarter and was only down by five points at that point.
The Flyers slip to 5-10 overall and 1-7 in the Mega Red.
Thursday they will host Monroe. This Tuesday they were at Grosse Pointe South and next Tuesday they are at the Dearborn Academy of Business and Technology.
