The man was arraigned Wednesday in Washtenaw County 14A District Court at 1 p.m. on charges related to the deathaccording to Det. Don Lupi of the Saline Police.
The daughter of the Saline man called police after finding her father dead in his Sheffield Street home around 3 p.m. Monday, according to police. Officers, fire rescue, and ambulance personnel responded.
The questionable nature of the death led Saline Police to call in the Michigan State Police Crime Lab to assist with the investigation. Crime Lab investigators arrived shortly after 5 p.m. and concluded that the cause of death appeared to be blunt force trauma to the head. Police initiated the first homicide investigation in Saline since 1981.
An autopsy by the Washtenaw County Medical Examiner to determine the exact cause of death is scheduled for today.
After questioning people who knew the man, police identified several suspects, including one who had several warrants out for his arrest. Saline Police issued a countywide bulletin for the possible suspect's vehicle.
Shortly after 1 a.m. Tuesday, Washtenaw County Sheriff's deputies came across the vehicle in Ypsilanti Township near Michigan Avenue and Harris Street and arrested the Superior Township man without incident on unrelated outstanding warrants, including warrants for car theft, child support, and other traffic offenses.
