Losing two starting players will hurt any team.

But losing two starters who contribute as much as middle-hitters Erin Moffett and Crystal Washington makes winning that much more difficult.
Lincoln volleyball coach Ashley Cudney understands this all too well after both players suffered sprained ankles and were sidelined for last week's matches.
Moffett, a freshman, was injured during a tournament Jan. 13, while Washington, a sophomore, was injured Jan. 17 at a practice.
During the Railsplitters' tilt against Ann Arbor-Pioneer Jan. 18, Cudney was forced to make multiple adjustments because of the injuries. The Lincoln netters lost to Ann Arbor Pioneer, 7-25, 16-25 and 14-25.
The Railsplitters are now 5-11 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
Next on the schedule for the Railsplitters is a home match with Chelsea tonight.
It will certainly help to have those twisted ankles become healthy ankles, though, Cudney said.
"That will definitely help. They should both be back," Cudney said. She added that Moffet should be practicing this week while Washington should be back for the match against Chelsea.
"They're the two tallest on our team, and have played in the middle for us all year," she said.
After watching the Lady Bulldogs during a recent tournament, Cudney said they are a decent team and will be a challenge. In order to beat them, the Lady Railsplitters will have to serve receive well, among other things, Cudney said.
"We have to be aggressive at the net," Cudney said. "…block balls; have aggressive attacks."
Lincoln will then play at the Ida tournament which will field 12-15 teams this on Saturday.
