On Thursday night in a rivalry game the Flyers fell 59-31 to Ypsilanti High.
In the first quarter the Phoenix were up 13-10. Willow Run only scored four points in the second quarter and trailed 30-14 at the half.
Willow Run Coach Scott Hunter his team had its problems against the Phoenix.
"We had 21 turnovers in the game and the majority of those were unforced," Hunter commented. "In the first half they out rebounded us 27-9 and out of six lose balls they got five of them."
He said that second shot chances by Ypsilanti really hurt his team. On the line the Flyers were 7-of-15 and Ypsilanti was 25-of-34.
"(Terry) Lopez and (Torren) Burns both played well against us," he said. "Ypsilanti's defense was solid and I felt our intensity was better than it was early in the week against Huron."
Burns was high scorer on the game with 18 points and Lopez had 12 points and 12 boards for the Phoenix.
Maurice Jordan had eight points for the Flyers and three others had six points each.
Earlier in the week on Jan. 15 the Flyers fell 54-37 to Ann Arbor Huron.
The locals were down 34-30 going into the fourth quarter.
"Our defense just wore down," he said. "We were not making the shots and getting no offensive rebounds."
Three-point shooting was down for the game but the Flyers kept trying. They were only 3-of-22 for the game from three-point land.
"It has happened in all our losses," he said. "We were settling for jump shots and taking threes that were no good."
Junior Brian Cogdell led the team in scoring with 18 points.
Willow Run played at Truman last Tuesday and will play at Dearborn Heights Robichaud this Tuesday.
"I think we need to switch up on our defense," he said. "I will have to look at our substitution on tape and maybe shorten up the bench."
Hunter said he might change on his press as well. He knows the league is tough but also knows he has to play some tough competition in Class B district action against the likes of Robichaud and Dearborn Divine Child.
