Orchestra and Gemini collaborate for concert

The Ypsilanti Symphony Orchestra will hold a Children's Concert with the Ann Arbor-based folk group Gemini 2 p.m. Feb. 25 at Towsley Auditorium on the Washtenaw Community College campus. Adam C. Riccinto will conduct the YSO.

"The YSO is excited for this opportunity to perform with Gemini. Their music is creative, fun and uplifting. This program is sure to bring joy to all ages," Riccinto said in a news release.
Since 1997, twin brothers Sandor and Laszlo have been performing family concerts with symphony orchestras around Michigan and surrounding areas. Gemini writes and plays acoustic music for children and families, celebrating the fun, warmth, and humor of family life. Their recordings and concerts are filled with rousing sing-alongs, folk tales, and music from around the world.
Gemini family concerts with orchestras are approximately one hour long, of which 50 minutes consists of Sandor and Laszlo's original songs, as well some traditional songs and stories from several cultures and musical traditions, played jointly by the brothers and the orchestra. The concerts are aimed at elementary age children and their families.
Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for senior citizens 65 and older, and children 12 and younger. A family pack consisting of two adults and two children is available for $25. For more information, visit www.geminichildrensmusic.com or www.ypsilantisymphony.org.
The Ypsilanti Symphony Orchestra is a nonprofit, community orchestra founded in 1999 by local musicians seeking a venue in which to develop their skills and perform classical music.
