Following a rocky start to the season, the Willow Run girls are showing that they can hang in the Mega Blue.

The Flyers added two more wins last week, defeating Ecorse 59-44 on Tuesday and Crestwood 43-38 on Thursday.
"The girls are a little more familiar with each other, and they know a little bit more what I expect from them," head coach Anthony Davis said. "Our captains have stepped up in practice and I give them a lot of credit for it - our last couple practices have been real intense."
The win over Crestwood was defensive affair. The Flyers scored only three points in the first quarter, but held Crestwood to only seven.
"We played pretty good defense but just couldn't buy any buckets," Davis said.
Neither team's offense kicked into high gear in the second quarter, and Crestwood held a 15-10 advantage at halftime.
It was Willow Run (5-6 overall, 2-3 Mega Blue) who would finally turn up the tempo, to which Davis said guards Shantanique Thorns and Colby Griffinm, who came off the bench, deserved the credit.
The girls' pressure in the full court press forced turnovers and got the Flyers the easy buckets they needed.
"They just kind of turned the game around for us," Davis said. "They caused a lot of havoc. I was real happy with the energy that they brought."
Antonice Davis also came alive in the second half. Willow Run's leading scorer only took three first half shots, but finished the game with 14 points and nine rebounds.
Dominique Lucas also turned in a solid performance, grabbing nine rebounds and five steals.
"I'd say that was her best game of the season," Davis said. "I've been waiting for this type of game from her. She jumps higher than some of the boys I've coached, but she just has to be aggressive."
