Lincoln varsity basketball continues to show that they can compete, they just have yet to turn a competitive showing into a win.

The Railsplitters led by as many as nine points in the second half of their 70-61 loss to Chelsea, but the lead eroded after several third quarter offensive breakdowns.
"We played extremely well," head coach Mike Foley said. "I was baffled that we came up short. We played as a team, the guys were having fun, our game plan was fully executed but, unfortunately, we came up short."
Ryan Walton's game high 18 led Lincoln in scoring. Andrew Dillon contributed 16 and Emmanuel Hannon added 9.
Chelsea chased down the Splitters throughout the first half and Lincoln's defense proved overwhelming on the other end of the court.
"We were in control of the game throughout the first half," Foley said. "We were causing them to turn the ball over and we were playing as a team - we have not played as a team all year and I can say for the first time we played as a team."
Foley partly attributed the second half breakdown to fatigue.
"The style of defense my guys play, they got extremely tired," he said.
The loss keeps Lincoln winless on the season, but, after Thursday's performance, Foley expects a better record in the new year.
"Based on that game, I think we have a lot to look forward to in the next year," he said.
The Railsplitters face Ann Arbor Huron Friday at home.
