Ongoing events:

Lively Arts Exhibit at the Whittaker Road, Community Room from January 2-16, "Picture America"

Great art speaks powerfully, inspires fresh thinking, and connects us to our past. Picturing America, an exciting new initiative from the National Endowment for the Humanities in cooperation with the American Library Association, brings masterpieces of American art into libraries nationwide which offers unique insights into the character, ideals, and aspirations of our country.

Photo-text exhibit at the Whittaker Road, Community Room from Jan. 18-30, "In Our Family"

In Our Family is a museum-quality traveling photo-text exhibit about twenty families representing a breadth of diversity and family configurations. Designed for audiences of all ages - from early childhood to adults - In Our Family challenges stereotypes and helps dismantle prejudice by celebrating and affirming differences of all kinds. The Friends of YDL provided financial support to bring this exhibit to Ypsilanti. In Our Family was designed and arranged by Family Diversity Projects, a non-profit organization in Amherst, MA. The Ypsilanti District Library is pleased to present this exhibit in collaboration with the Ypsilanti City Human Relations Commission.
