City parking lots
to be improved

Next year could be quite a busy year for projects in downtown Ypsilanti.
The Ypsilanti Downtown Development Authority will ask
the City Council at its next meeting on Dec. 2 to approve almost $1
million in bonds to continue the Streetscape program with improvements to
city parking lots and new signs to help motorists find various locations
downtown.

Dance group performing classic Christmas ballet

What would the holiday season be like if the Nutcracker Ballet wasn’t performed?
As much a part of Christmas as eggnog and candy canes, the ballet is performed every year by many dance groups.
For the 35th time, the Ypsilanti Area Dancers
will perform the Nutcracker Ballet under the direction of Sara Randazzo,
Heidi Vitso, Laura McCarthy, Roya Panahi Tinney and Gail Choate-Petit.

West Middle School student headed to national conference
Based on West Middle School student Michelle Kuipers’ academic achievement and leadership potential, she has been nominated to attend the Junior National Young Leaders Conference in February 2004 held Washington, D.C
Michelle, 12, was nominated by her science teacher, Tim
Podlewski, who recognized her as one of a group of students with the
scholastic merit, maturity and responsibility to represent West Middle
School in this unique leadership program for exceptional 6th and 7th
graders.
