Labor Day

Labor Day is a holiday specifically to thank all the working stiffs - which is just about all of us - for making America the nation it is.

Everyone has a theory about what makes an economy like ours strong, but there is no doubt that without people willing to work hard to produce products and provide services, we would not be the economic power that we are.

And we all have a great stake in seeing that the average working person continues to reap a reward for making the effort necessary to drive our economic engine.

While there is no doubt that capital plays a role in creating wealth, it really would be pretty useless unless someone were willing to add that crucial ingredient called labor, which puts the capital to use.

If you don’t believe that, then here’s a little experiment for you to perform this Labor Day:

Take a small amount of capital, say $10, and put it in an envelope and then set it aside.

Next year, open the envelope and see how much additional capital was generated without the addition of any other ingredient.

If there’s more than the original $10 in the envelope, please call us because we would like to be the first to report on a genuine miracle.

Without labor - be it manual or intellectual - no one prospers.
