Talk to the Road Commission
To the Editor:
I am deeply concerned over the matter of the removal of
the traffic light at the corner of Jay and Grove Roads.
I have been a resident of Grove Road for 33 years. The
traffic light was put in back when the old swim club existed.
Grove Road has a high volume of traffic going up and down
the street. The speed limit is 35 miles per hour, but many people driving
down Grove Road ignore the speed limit. There is a bike path that runs
across the street from my house.
Many pedestrians walk down the bike path with children
and their dogs. Many residents who live on Grove Road have to cross the
street in order to use the bike path; with no traffic light there is a risk
in crossing the street.
With a traffic light there was time to cross the street.
Many residents have to back up their vehicles in the
street. With no traffic light, there is a higher risk of someone having an
accident.
There needs to be more police patrolling our neighborhood
for speeders.
Please let the Washtenaw County Road Commission know that
you want your voices heard, that a traffic light is needed back in the area
of Grove Road and Jay Street for the safety of the residents and pedestrians
of our neighborhood.
